Islamic Etiquette of Using the Washroom

Before entering the loo, say a prayer,
Left foot first, then right, with care.
No writings of Allah or verses to bear,
Don’t utter zikr while you are there.

Don’t stand to pee, that’s not right,
Nor in a pit, day or night.
Avoid the path where people go,
Under shady trees? say, no!

Not in the bathplace, clean and neat,
Nor in waters, still or fleet.
Follow these rules, simple and true,
To stay pure in all you do.

Face not the Qibla, front or back,
No splashes on skin, keep it perfect.
Sit in silence, make no sound,
Let no smell or noise be found.

Clean with the left hand, don’t forget,
Use tissue first, keep it light.
Then take water, wash it pure,
Don’t waste it, just make sure!

Get any smell from your hand?
Wash your hands, don’t be worried.
Splash water on clothes and private parts,
To clear all doubts, it’s where it starts.

When you finish, don't wait,
Right foot first and left foot next.
When you're outside, say a prayer,
For blessings and peace, everywhere!
