GTA

Jayed An Nabhan

Jayed An Nabhan is a Grade 11 student at Brampton Centennial Secondary School who is passionate about community service, leadership, and youth development. He has contributed more than 150 volunteer hours through Sayeda Khadija Centre, his school’s Muslim Students’ Association, and MCC, supporting a range of community initiatives.

As an executive member of his school’s MSA, Jayed helps organise events that promote leadership, service, and community engagement. His dedication to Qur’anic learning earned him third place in the 2025 MCC Toronto Qur’an Competition and first place in the 2026 MCC GTA Qur’an Competition. His community service was also recognised with third place in the 2026 Ramadan Champion Competition.

Jayed is committed to serving his community and inspiring other young people through leadership, faith, and meaningful service.

GTA

Jabeer Rahman

Jabeer Rahman is a second-year BBA student at the University of Toronto with a strong interest in leadership, youth development, and community service. He founded his high school’s Muslim Students’ Association and served as its president, helping it grow into one of the school’s largest student clubs.

He also represented his school as a MIST Ambassador and is currently involved with the University of Toronto MSA, where he supports first-year students in staying connected with the Muslim community. Jabeer serves as the MCC NextGen Boys Youth Secretary and volunteers as a DECA regional competition judge.

His achievements include the University of Waterloo Certificate of Distinction, the Principal’s Award for Student Leadership, and several scholarships and academic awards. Through his leadership and volunteer service, Jabeer hopes to continue making a positive contribution to his community while developing as a future leader.

GTA

Zubayer Hamdan

Zubayer Hamdan is a Grade 12 student whose leadership has developed through years of dedicated community involvement. He currently serves as president of his school’s Muslim Students’ Association, building on his ongoing service with Sayeda Khadija Centre and the Muslim Circle of Canada, where he supports a range of youth and community programmes.

His contributions have been recognised at both local and national levels. Zubayer was second runner-up in the Ramadan Youth Champions Competition at Sayeda Khadija Centre and has received several awards through MCC, including recognition in the National Youth Debate Competition. These achievements reflect his confidence, critical thinking, and depth of Islamic knowledge.

Outside school and community service, Zubayer participates in several sports and has travelled to Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Singapore, and different regions of Bangladesh. These experiences have broadened his perspective and helped him understand his community within a wider global context.

Ottawa

Nusrat Tazkia

Nusrat Tazkia is a recent graduate of the University of Ottawa, where she completed a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences. She is also expected to complete her master’s degree in Microbiology and Immunology within the coming month. Her academic journey reflects a strong commitment to scientific inquiry and excellence, balanced with a longstanding dedication to community service.

Since 2022, Nusrat has been actively involved in youth and community initiatives, taking on leadership roles that have strengthened her skills in coordination, strategic planning, and mentorship. She currently serves on the YM Sisters Board as East Region Coordinator, contributing to meaningful programming and continued community development.

Passionate about empowering others, Nusrat believes in fostering identity, resilience, and purpose among young Muslims. Her ability to manage rigorous academic responsibilities while remaining deeply engaged in community work reflects her strong work ethic, adaptability, and vision. She looks forward to bringing these qualities to the MCC community.

Ottawa

Nuzhat Takia

Nuzhat Takia is a fourth-year Health Sciences student at the University of Ottawa and a dedicated community advocate. She serves as a Youth Leader with the Muslim Circle of Canada, supporting youth development and community engagement.

On campus, Nuzhat is the founder and president of the uOttawa Muslimah Basketball Club, where she combines her passion for sport with her commitment to building an inclusive, active, and welcoming community. She has also been a core member of YM Sisters Canada for more than five years and currently serves as Vice President and Social Media Coordinator for YM Sisters Ottawa, helping lead youth-development and engagement initiatives.

Through her volunteer work, Nuzhat has supported youth literacy and academic confidence through one-to-one tutoring, helped make language learning accessible to young learners, and created safe and engaging recreational spaces as a camp counsellor. She has also used her henna artistry and community involvement to raise funds for local mosques and community centres.

Her leadership reflects a strong commitment to youth empowerment, inclusion, education, and meaningful community service.
